What is Yoga?

The practice of yoga is as varied as there are practitioners. Originating in India thousands of years ago, yoga has evolved in the West based on the interests and lifestyles of practitioners. There are yoga classes geared toward the hardcore athlete and the never-did-a-day-of-exercise novice alike. If you tried a yoga class once and didn't like it, try a different teacher or a different style! There's something for everyone (except of course if you'd rather not move at all and even then, Restorative Yoga might just suit you!) Or if you know you love yoga, sign up for a yoga retreat and spend several days practicing and mingling with others who appreciate yoga just as you do.

Yoga Styles:

Hatha Yoga traditional form of yoga practice including breathing exercises (pranayama) and yoga poses (asana). Intensity level varies based on the instructor and the listed class level. Sometimes mixed multi-level classes are offered.
